Alter Call

The "Walk the Aisle" or "Alter Call" was at the end of sermons was when all the sinners walked down the aisle to the front of the church to ask for prayers for salvation.  Preachers also used it to see how people reacted to their sermon.  At my church (North Garland Church of Christ) my preacher at the end of each service says if anyone wants to come down and have someone pray for them or if they want to be baptized in the name of Christ, so i think this is a good thing.  But calling people to come down so people can see who are the sinners is a wrong thing, and to see how people reacted to your sermon isnt a good thing to do cause your pretty much just using the people.
"was necessary to bring [sinners] out from among the mass of the ungodly to a public renunciation of their sinful ways." This is what Charles Finney said.  Its wrong, dont ya think?  Cause we all deal with the same problems, so that means all of us would have to walk up to the front cause we all sin daily.  So if your church does this "Alter Call" or "Walk the Aisle" is fine i think, but you have to figure why your preacher and church do it, if its for the right reason then yes, but if its for the wrong reason then its a bad reason.  An i think my church does it for a good reason.

Some movie that i missed in Bible class Friday

I saw the last few minutes of a Glee episode, and pretty much what i saw was that Christianity is just some other thing in the world.  the writers seemed like they didnt like Christianity and that some guy in the movie got a grilled cheese sandwich that had Jesus on it and when he prayed for something using the grilled cheese it would come true or something like that.  And this gay guy didnt believe in God but he went to church with one of his friends and he let them pray for his dad since he was in the hospital.  So i guess what the writers were trying to say was that Christianity is whatever you want it to and its pretty much fake

Matthew 5:38-42

Matthew 5:38-42 is called Retaliation, and what Jesus says is that if someone sues us for our jacket, we should give him/her are shoes to, and if someone hits us, we should just turn the other cheek and let them slap us again.  So in our times i think it means, that if someone makes fun of you, dont just make fun of them back, just take it and move on with your life.  I have to say it is kinda hard when someone makes fun of you, not to turn around and make fun of them or say a "your momma joke."  And its hard when someone hits you, not to hit them back.  so it will take me a little to get use to not retaliate but i will start to try my best.

Halloween!

Is Halloween a good holiday or a bad one?

Well from what i remember since i was little i would always go trick or treating around my neighbor with my little brother and my dad and sometimes my mom.  I dont remember my parents or my church telling me that Halloween was a bad thing, like it was a pagan holiday or something. that instead it was a time to go have fun and get candy.  And then in recent years i have been helping my church put on a Halloween party thing for all the little kids in my church and then for some of the other kids in Enid.

I think this article is mostly wrong because its saying that most churches know nothing and can do nothing, and instead the church would have a  " Harvest party or a Fall Festival—different titles for everything you wanted to do on Halloween."  Which i think is not true, cause my church throughs a Halloween party at my church and my youth group and i help them set everything up and plays games with the little kids that come in and we try to show Christ in everything we do on Halloween.
But that just me.

i like Halloween cause its a fun holiday that you get to dress up as crazy people and you give candy to kids and they have a blast

Special Olympics

today i got paired with 4 guys, neal, dwwayneed, and marcus at the special olympics.  Neal was didnt talk at all but he always had a smile on his face. dwwayne kept asking me if he was winning, ed was just crazy good at bowling like superman and flying, it was so natural to him. and marcus wasnt very good at bowling but he liked to try anyways and i could tell he had a lot of fun!

so at first when i was with this guys i felt kinda weird and didnt have any idea what to do.  so i sat there and wrote down their names and talking to ethan (who was in the lane beside me) about what to do, then dwwayne comes up to me and starts asking me when we can start bowling and if he would win or not. so i talked to dwwayne for a while before we started to bowl, he was nice and really was into the sport. then over the intercom comes a voice and said we can start bowling. so i told ed to go first (cause he name was first) and he goes up there and bowls. so the whole time these 4 guys were bowling i was feeling sorry for them cause they had a disability or something else wrong with them. i wish i could have help them in some way other than just cheering them on in bowling but i couldnt. they were funny and cool and chip white (in ethans lane) was so funny. i also noticed that all of these guys believed in themselves a lot, and i just wish i could believe in myself and in Christ as much as they believe in themselves cause sometimes i dont believe in God that much when i should. so i learned that even though they had a mental or physical disability they still believed in themselves and in each other and had a lot of fun. i wish i could have helped more in someway

Andy's speak over spiritual emphasis week.

So Andy was probably one of my favorite talkers during chapel, that i have ever been at Oba since 7th grade. Just wanted to start out with that.

Monday: Andy started off with showing us some slides of his family, and about the 2 kids he adopted. He said that both of them are full american and nothing different than each one of us, and he talked about how God showed him an his wife that they needed to adopt. After that he asked everyone 3 questions.
1.Is the sky really blue? He talked about how he is colored blind and that we were told the sky is blue. 2.Are we really alive? or is it like Inseption, the movie. Inseption is a movie about team of people sneaking into another persons dreams while they are asleep, and planting a idea into their dream. So in this dreams anything can happen. then Andy said how do we not know if we arent a butterfly in africa flying around and not human beings in Enid, Oklahoma listening to him. 3.Is there really a God? this is the last question Andy asked us in chapel monday. he told us a story about this guy that dressed up as Jesus and was walking down a street in new orleans (i think) saying, "repent for the kingdom of God is at hand." and how he joked around with this christian that tried to persuade him to become a Christian. then he asked if we really believed that our God is really, and that we have proof to really back it up and that we arent just saying we believe it cause are parents have taught us that and that is what we have been told.
Tuesday: On tuesday Andy said there is ONE TRUE GOD! and he asked What is it that I believe? i believe that there is one true God that created me to live for him. That he sent his son to die on the cross for my sins and that i have a purpose in life, even though im still working to find out the full purpose of my life, and that i can asked him for forgiveness whenever i feel like a messed up and did something wrong against him. and in ROMANS 10:9 it says, "if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." and i believe this. Paul wrote Romans and Paul also warned the people that were confessing that Jesus is Lord and saying there is one true God because some people thought that Caesar was "god" so they were going to probably get persecuted so they better have got ready. Andy also said that Genesis is the cornerstone for the whole New Testament. Later that afternoon Andy talked in my 7th hour bible class, and we talked about how we can proof that the Bible is true other than that it says that in the Bible. Matthew was a tax collector which is like a thief, he was one of the most hated Jews; Paul who wrote 2/3 of the New Testament was once Saul a murderer; and Peter was a Fisherman who probably was a liar, so why would God choose these kind of people to write his Bible? Then extra Biblical: history of battles between hebrews and other people, civilizations, empires, oppressors. Archeology, geographical, prophesies, Oral Traditions. and more, so there is more than just the Bible that shows us that our Bible is true and that we can believe its true.
Wednesday: Behave? Andy asked how we really should behave. how we really behave is how people see us everywhere at home, at school, and the mall with friends, anywhere. There were 5 points that we need to think about to have a good spiritual life that should help us with our behavior. 1.You are what you eat. Just like if you eat mcdonalds the whole time then you will get really fat and sick. 2. Junk food changes your physical appearance, just like thoughts change your behavior 3.Junk food causes heart problems and confuses your bodies natural functions, just like unhealthy spiritual things can cause you to be confused in your spiritual life. 4.Junk food taste good in the short term, but in the long term it leads to adverse side effects. 5.An apple a day.... Psalms 51:10-13 create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. cast me not away from your presence, and take not your Holy Spirit from me. restore to me the joy of your salvation, and uphold me with a willing spirit. then i will teach transgressors your ways, and sinners will return to you."
Thursday: Messages? Andy showed us some videos of things that we see everyday like a Facebook video, Axe Commercial are these good or bad spiritual foods? An music, we hear it everyday and sing to it without actually thinking about what the message is. the axe commerical is suppose to show that this smell of this axe was suppose to make all these girls go crazy for you, when it really doesnt even smell that good. Junk food is apart of us but we dont notice it as well cause its in our everyday life, so can we honestly point out what are the good things and the bad things in our lifes? Like our music we listen to, it can change what we think and what we say to friends and family, cause their are a lot of songs now with cuss words and sometimes we say them or think them just cause we have heard them in a song.
Friday: Who are we as a people? are we a loving people, a caring people, a people who want to help those in need? Starbucks had 10,000 people go to New Orleans and help rebuild some of the communities down there, i think thats helpful. We also watched a adoption video that shows us that we can help people by just adopting a orphan and showing the kindness and showing them God and then they hopefully they will be able to show kindness and God to someone else and  so on and so forther. we need to love another, not just people that get along with us and our family and friends, but people we dont know or every talk to or people we dont like. Even though it might be hard to love someone we dont like. Andy also asked How many times do we try to run away from God? Jonah was one of those people who tried to run away from God, cause God told him to go to Nineveh the worst place in the world in his time, and tell them they need to change their ways. But Jonah went and got on a boat and tried to hide and run away from God but God had him swallowed by a whale. So Jonah was stuck in that whale for 3 days and asked God to forgive him, so God forgave him, Jonah went to Nineveh and said in Jonah 3:4, "Yet in 40 days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown," so then Jonah walked out of city and sat under a tree and waited for Nineveh to be destroyed, but all the people in Nineveh changed cause of him, cause he finally chose to follow God an tried to love a group of people who he didnt want to love. Andy also said that some of us will be called to do great things for God, but its our chose if we will follow God and let him work through us to bring more people to him and glorify his kingdom more, and we will need to use our talents for his kingdom also.

So thank you Andy Braner, No Brainer, for coming and talking to us for Spiritual Emphasis week. for coming all these way and being away from your family. Thank you for making me think more, and learn more about God.

Good Friends!

The qualities i look for in a good friend are they like to have fun and goof off. They are funny are make me laugh.  be able to hang with me when i am being weird and drawing a lot of attention to myself just cause I'm loud and full of energy.  be nice to other people and myself and to be able to be nice to new people and accept them even if they are different.  honest to me and my other friends.  smart, cause i don't want to be with a friend who makes stupid mistakes and makes stupid decision and gets in trouble and get me into trouble sometimes also.  i want them to have respect for my decisions i makes, and respect my family, friends, and my God.  and i want them to be a christian, of if their aren't a christian, i would want them to come to church with me.

Being One

Charles Darwin has really effect our churches more than Jesus has. mr bishop showed me that we are all one through Adam, and Noah, and through Christ. the only difference we have is the melon in our bodies, but we are all one physically and spiritually through Jesus Christ. he also showed me that different ethnics are going to be together in heaven glorifying God. we also need to believe in the Bible rather than just say we believe in it. mr. bishop also showed me that some Scholars from Yale proved that the Bible did exist and that the flood did happen and so did creation.

John Mayer-Slow Dancing in a Burning Room

The lyrics to this song has different meanings to everyone, but what i think about this song is his side of the story, and that he is having a hard time in a relationship, he use to like her a lot but now he isnt having the same feelings for her anymore. an he says that she is lying about her feelings towards him and that he has had enough so he wants to break up with her.  its sounds nice, but its a little to slow for me. and also he has a good voice. I would listen to it sometimes just to get me thinking about life and how some people go through relationships but it also makes feel down so i wouldnt listen to it to much. But thats what i think.

Quality of my future spouse!

There are more than just one qualities i want in my future spouse. So i think the 2 most important ones i think are,

1. she is a christian, its sounds like i am playing the good christian person role but i really do mean this and its really important cause she will be able to help me work through problems in my life and point me to scriptures that will help me, and in (NIV) 2 Corinthians 6:14 it says, "Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness?"
2.her attitude, because i want a wife who will have a positive attitude and look at the good side in everything and not the bad side of everything. Like in (NIV) Philippians 2:5 it says, "Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus," and Jesus was always looking on the plus side so i think it would be kinda hard to marry someone who is always putting you down or looking at the bad side because that is not what Jesus did.

These are some of the qualities i want in my future spouse, these arent just the only ones i have but i think these are most important. You might have some different ones than i do.

Gendercide

I didn't like the idea of some parents in China killed their babies just because they were a girl.  I think girls are just as important as guys.  But the parents need to notice that there are more guys than girls now, and that the guys are going to crime now because they don't have a girl in their life.  The girls that the parents got ride of were born for a certain reason, thats why God brought them to life, and they shouldn't just kill them cause they wanted a son instead.
